Dr. Donghae Kim | Founder
Dr. Donghae Kim, Founder and President of Vision Care, is a refractive and cataract surgeon in Seoul, South Korea at Myung Dong St. Mary’s Eye Center where Dr. Kim is also Founder and President. What originally began in 2002 as a small group traveling to Karachi to perform eye surgery has grown into an international organization operating in 38 countries with branches in Mongolia, Ethiopia, Uganda, China, Vietnam, Mauritania and Morocco as well as Pakistan. Dr Kim founded Vision Care USA in 2010, a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), which recognized Dr. Kim in 2013 as an “Eye Health Leader”.

In 17 short years, Vision Care has treated over 166,000 patients and performed more than 24,400 cataract surgeries through 290+ free eye camps in 38 countries throughout Asia, Africa, and Central-South America. With a particular emphasis on sustainable local eye health, Vision Care currently has local branches in Pakistan, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Uganda, China, Vietnam, Mauritania and Morocco. Vision Care, which more recently expanded into the U.S. under the same name, is a member of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), where Dr. Kim was recognized in 2013 as an “Eye Health Leader”.

Dr. Lisa Park | Board Chair
Dr. Park is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Vagelos School of Physicians & Surgeons and Division Director of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She received her B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard College and her M.D. from Yale School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at New York University School of Medicine and a fellowship in complex anterior segment and refractive surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. She joined the faculty at NYU where she was Associate Director of Residency Training and served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Bellevue Hospital. Dr Park joined Columbia’s Department of Ophthalmology in 2017, with an office on Manhattan’s west side. She has authored nearly 100 book chapters, journal articles and research abstracts, and lectures widely on complex cataract surgery techniques. She has been a volunteer surgeon with Vision Care since 2013 and is currently serving as Board Chair.

Dr. Daniel Kim | Former Board Chair
Dr. Daniel Kim is the Managing Director of the St. Mary’s Eye and Surgery Center, with offices in New Jersey, Manhattan, and Flushing, where he specializes in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Kim has extensive experience with community and professional service organizations including the Korean-American Medical Association (KAMA), Korean American Community Foundation (KACF) and The Beautiful Foundation USA. Dr. Kim is a graduate of Cornell University and NYU School of Medicine.

Amy Ahn | Executive Director
Amy Ahn is currently the Executive Director of Vision Care USA. Formerly, Amy was the Executive Director of the Beautiful Foundation USA and Director of Program Development at the Korean American Community Foundation (KACF). Amy also brings experience from the for-profit sector; she was a product manager at Johnson & Johnson and country manager for the DeBeers brand of J. Walter Thompson Korea.
Amy holds a BA in Political Science from Columbia University and an MA in Economic and Political Development from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Grace Bai | Executive Board Member
Dr. Bai grew up in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey and received her B.S. degree in biology from Wellesley College where she was a nationally ranked fencer and team captain. She earned her M.D. from SUNY Upstate Medical University at Syracuse and completed her ophthalmology residency at St. Vincent Medical Center in New York City. She is fellowship trained in Cornea and Refractive Surgery under the world renown ophthalmologist, Dr. Eric Donnenfeld. She moved to Chicago in 2000 and opened her private practice in 2004. Dr. Bai, who is fluent in both English and Korean, welcomes all patients to her practice.

James Kim | Executive Board Member
Dr Kim received his BA from Columbia University and holds MD / PhD degrees from University of Michigan and Columbia’s School of Pharmacology. He completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic and glaucoma fellowship at Duke University. He is a partner at Massachusetts Eye Associates with three offices in Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.

John Park | Executive Board Member
Dr. Park studied Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics at Yale University before starting medical school at UMDNJ- Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He completed ophthalmology residency at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center- Brooklyn and Queens and pursued fellowship training in Anterior Segment/Cornea/Refractive Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans. He founded Edison Ophthalmology Associates, LLC. in 2004, in Edison, NJ.
